Museum News: An Update and Programs for You

Dear Friends,

The Industrial History Center at Mill 2 - a new computer-generated rendering from Greg Colling, our architect with Merrimack Design Architects.

Our Open House on February 28 was a great success. A steady flow of members and friends of the museum visited our new offices and our space on the ground level of Amesbury Industrial Supply. It was a pleasure to welcome so many of you, hear thoughts and answer questions about our plans. We will keep you all informed as our millyard project continues to take form.

Upcoming Programs. Our first program of the season - History on Tap - What's Brewing in Amesbury - is scheduled for Monday, March 25 at Brewery Silvaticus, 9 Water Street in Amesbury. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Kassandra Gove, Executive Director of the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce and I will provide an overview of the upcoming events planned in Amesbury. History on Tap has been a fun way to shake off the winter blues and get ready for the season. The event is free, with a cash bar. We are grateful to Jay and Michelle at Brewery Silvaticus for hosting the event.

The fourth Bailey Family Lecture - Renovating the Millyard - a Community Story - is scheduled for 7 pm Wednesday, April 24 at Amesbury City Hall. Former Director of Economic and Community Development, Joseph Fahey, will share his story about the process of creating the Amesbury downtown we know today.

And our first ever Family Day in the Millyard is planned for Saturday, May 4 from 10 am to 1 pm. The entire program is designed to showcase our historic landscape and engage families in activities of all types.

See the calendar of events for more details.

The 2018 Annual Fund. We Did It! - Well actually you did. We met and passed our goal by raising over $10,000 from 98 donors. For such a "young" organization this was a great accomplishment. And now we are in our Spring Membership Drive with a similarly ambitious goal of building our membership to 220. The Annual Fund and our Membership Program are two critical ways of generating financial support for our operations. Thank you to all who supported the Annual Fund. And if you are not a member, now is a great time to get involved. With your help, we can do it!

With much appreciation and great enthusiasm for Spring,

John Mayer, Executive Director
