From the Executive Director's Desk - News
On June 22nd, the Industrial History Center was filled with our smallest history lovers - and they were busy getting to explore history, hands-on! Despite the torrential downpours, we welcomed 150 visitors to our Going Places: Trains, Planes, and Automobiles event.
Kids and families got to try their hand building an Amesbury vehicle out of legos, racing it on a 30 foot track, and meeting Amelia Earhart. We had the museum filled with chugging model trains, carriages, and antique vehicles on display. And of course - a visit to Amesbury's own passenger depot (Crave Bistro) for some Hodgies Ice Cream.
This past week, students from Code & Circuit visited the museum and learned about Mill 2. They used their Collaborative Lego and Minecraft building skills that they learned at Code & Circuit to build a model of the Upper Millyard and Mill 2. They even 3D printed some of the buildings!
Coming up, ACM has a summer filled with activities, events, and local partnerships that invite visitors of all ages to try their hand at history. We are inspired by Amesbury's story of industrious makers and we look to what these summer programs will bring!
