Glass Plate Negative Images from the ACm collections
Glass plate photography was used from the 1850’s through 1920’s. Despite their fragility, these photographic plates captured highly detailed images with long term stability superior to the film that would replace them. Thanks to the generous principal support from Rick and Kim Sandler, we are now able to safely scan this quickly growing collection and share them with the public. New collections will be added as they become available.
Women Textile Workers
For the first time ever, we are able to show you inside one of Amesbury’s historical textile mills and reveal faces of women and girls who worked within its walls.
Our researchers are working to confirm more details about these images, but based on fashion and historical data, we estimate that these photographs were taken in or around 1913.
Do you recognize any of the faces in these photos? We’d love to hear from you. Send us an email at info@amesburycarriagemuseum.org
