From the Executive Director's Desk

Dear ACM Members and Friends,

Visitors, IHC Spring Launch - April 2, 2022.

I am excited to be penning this message to the ACM community. This is the first of many opportunities that I will have to share exciting museum news.

In joining the ACM family (just a few weeks ago) I have received the warmest of welcomes from the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers.

If I have learned one thing in my time at other institutions, it is that the people are what make a good museum a great museum.

When you walk into a history center or museum, you expect to have an enjoyable experience and maybe learn something new.

What you may not see are the supportive and enthusiastic people who make programs and exhibits a reality. They bring their passion for history and engaging the public to the table to surprise and delight those who set foot in the museum. They take the time to thoughtfully plan a program, chat with visitors, or serve as a trusted advisor on the Board of Directors.

Without them, the museum is just a building full of stuff.

The past six years of ACM history has been eventful and the organization has grown into a robust institution, with a sense of place (and a literal home in the IHC in the center of Amesbury). It is my view that the museum building represents the heart of the organization, and the people are its lifeblood. They flow through the organization, infusing it with the necessary elements to live and thrive.

I am honored to be joining this group of dedicated Amesbury people, who bring heart and soul to their work. I look forward to a future of helping the Amesbury Carriage Museum and Industrial History Center grow.

Most sincerely,
Kelly
